It is believed to be by many that this is the day Jesus Christ the son of God was born in Bethlehem in Israel about 2000 years ago as is written in the Bible.
Christmas in Japan is NOT a holiday (!) but there is no school because it falls into their winter term break.
Celebration in Japan is rather made on Christmas Eve, Dec 24, where family or couples spend time together. Some popular restaurants are booked way in advance. They celebrate it with the chicken and Christmas cake. Sushi is also popular. Cake shops sell various types of cakes with special Christmas decoration, that are very pretty.
Christmas presents are placed at the pillow when children are sleeping. It is a same excitement when they wake up and find the present on Christmas morning!
How do you spend your Christmas holiday in Australia? What is different from the way it is celebrated in Japan?
